Vampires and things...

D&D takes us to vampires... anyone ever play "Ravenloft"? I started with a vampire and then did the requisite other horror film characters. No room for Frank's Bride or Mr Hyde. I guess I'll try them on the other side... of the page. DOH.

A waiting room is usually exactly that. Plenty of time to kill and doodle what's around.

D&D sketching

When there are 10 people playing it sometimes takes a while for your turn to come around again... thus I draw and listen to the geeks geeking out. This is a hand study and the Sex Pope... or Sex Bishop if you prefer.

This is me and the squirrel who is always digging up my garden. Oh and a one-eyed flying thing with a big knife.

This is of course Admiral what's his name (Ackbar?) from Star Wars. The D&D party was walkign into an obvious trap and trying to think of a way out. I just drew. I play a monk because they suck as a character class and I wanted to see why. This is a portrait of him wielding his weapon of choice - a dead rabbit. We'll see what comes out of the next D&D session...

Swords!

Anytime I look through a strategy guide or an art mook for an RPG, I always love studying the dozens and dozens of weapons. Oh how I would love to be on a project that required me to draw weapons all day...

The fact is I did get to do it once, oh so long ago now... and for only five swords. So it took, like, just the one day. :-( I think one or two reappeared on this page out of subconscious nostalgia.

More Diner Doodles

This is from just a couple weeks ago, from Jim's Restaurant, my regular haunt in Austin. I've let a bunch of pages stock up and am about ready to scan the next batch between then and now. I hope you all enjoy seeing them!

Half + Half

When I'm in the mood I'll sketch something up by traditional means and then do some quickie colors in photoshop. This sketch was actually done a few days ago during a work meeting, I didn't intend to color it but I started fooling around with some flats and took it a little further. I didn't want to call out too much detail since it starts to expose flaws in the original, which admittedly I wasn't paying too much attention to at the time.

Pencil sketch: blue line on paper, 15 min.
Colors: Photoshop, Wacom, 30 min
