For Eric

Thanks for the inspiration, bud. I actually lost a soft cover version of that book recently. This short story page was directly influenced by Wrightson's Frankenstein.

Fish Week Continues

Not to be confused with Shark Week.

It's Fish Week!

To close out the year on Cup Doodle, I've got a bunch of fish-related posts for no particular reason. Other than I plum like fish, of course. With the help of a handy-dandy Peterson Field Guide, it was easy to be inspired to sketch up some fishies. Also, Venture Bros.

Will some other doodlers catch fish fever?* I hope so!

Krampus Kard

So here is this year's Christmas card! It's got a bit o' the Krampus. I've hit an impasse here, so if you've got some feedback please feel free to let me know.

space Cinderelly

Late again but inked this time - here's my Cinderella. With mice! I've been sitting on it for a couple days hoping to get around to color. Ah well - work consumes me. :)

Post-dress-distress Cindy

In retrospect she looks like she has a hangover more than anything else. Her head also looks kinda big.

Poor Cindy

Here's my take

Cinderella... ella... ella

Hey folks, we thought it'd be fun to pick a defining image from Cinderella and offer up our own interpretations. Can't wait to see who takes a stab!

The scene is question is where Cinderlla is all ready to go to the ball, but her jealous stepsisters mercilessly rip her homemade dress to shreds.

The original is, of course, timeless, I'm always amazed at the level of technical acumen Disney was achieving in the 40's and 50's. No CG shortcuts in those days, it was all art. In this particular heartbreaking scene, I love the color and change in lighting that occurs to enhance poor Cindy's despair.

All fear THE MONARCH!
