CUP DOODLE: ONE YEAR!

I started Cup Doodle one year ago and was lucky to get some very talented friends to join in on the fun. I'd like to thank not only my fellow doodlers but everyone who has stopped by over the past year. We've been sketching up a storm with more on the way, and encourage all our visitors to leave comments to let us know what you think.

ZOMG SPAM

I love getting unexpected e-mail from the many folks I've met over the years in the far-too-many cities I've lived in. But sometimes the correspondence is... SPAM! Really?? I don't hear from you in ages but you'd rather I know Mrs. Field's secret recipe? Microsoft's kickback for forwarding mail? I'll meet that special someone If I send this note to three people?

Folks, I've had e-mail for close to 20 years, I've seen them all. Many, many times. So nowadays when I get friend spam I just reply back with the image above. At least say hello next time, 'kay?

Studying... a Dean Yeagle homage.

Here's a drawing of a friend of mine studying. Tis a homage to Dean Yeagle, of course. I added a bit of my own anime influence and such in it. Colored it rather fast, but oh well... other stuff came up.

Here's a pic I've been meaning to post. (scanned straight out of the sketchbook - no touch ups) Trying to keep up on my perspective/foreshortening skillz. At first I was cross-hatching the shading, but then I found a gray marker I thought I'd try... I don't think the two work well together, but it isn't total shite. LOL Really I need to go get more grays and play with them!

This was done from a photo of Keeley Hazel, who very thankfully is "built for drawin'" Seriously, I had to consciously try and not exaggerate her shapely curves. God bless those Page 3 Girls-- a redundant statement now that I think of it.
